P.s; Your profile piece, on Reminisce, for Aljazeera; 'The rapper with a coat of many colours': is one of the best profile pieces, I have ever read. On any Nigerian music-artist.
Secondly, I humbly do not think there is anything super, about Wizkid's Superstar album. The sound quality( shout out to poor BankyW- who tried his best), lyrics, and the musical substance on that albulm, are as immature, as Wizkid was immature, when he recorded that album.
'SUPERSTAR' STILL ENJOYS A GREAT DEAL OF LOVE, BECAUSE PEOPLE ARE remembering it-and not relistening to it. ALAS.
SUPERSTAR' IS NOT WIZKID'S BEST ALBUM. BUT WIZKID'S BEST LOVED ALBUM.
Good day Mr. Ayo. I enjoyed reading your piece. It is short, honest and straight to the point. I agree with almost everything you have written. But for one or two lines, such as...who we might never see become a man, at least musically.'' For I will like to think or imagine, that you meant to say; ''who we might never see become a man, at least 'lyrically''. Because I think this album is 'musically' the best thing Wizkid has ever produced.
The quality of the music on this albuum, over compensates, for the poverty of its lyrics.
Unfortunately, many reviewers have been elaborate on the (lyrical)demerits of this album. Than on its (musical)merits. At a time when, people are congratulating Rema, for taking a bold step-in the wrong direction. Mistaking anarchy for experimenataion. Plus in the same vein, praising Shalipopi's bufoonery, as ground breaking artistry. It was necessary for an old.g, like Wizkid, to restate the vital importance of three 'boring' elements; thus, Harmony, Melody, and Rhythm.
Again, we must be careful when we criticize the lack of harmony between the content of this album, and its title. For I believe this album was dedicated to his mother(post production). And not preconceived or prodouced in memory of his mother.
This is beautiful. I agree with the sentiment that Wizkid might have grown in melody over the years but he hasn’t grown at all in writing. The artistic direction was lacking.
Overall, this is a beautiful but brief dissection of the album, but it’s brief for obvious reasons; there isn’t much to talk about anyway.
This is a lovely read! Well done Ayo!
Thank you

And Love, unfortunately, is 'blind'-and 'deaf'.
