Wizkid's Top 5 Songs of All Time
With countless songs in his discography, it would be almost impossible to extract his five best songs. Well...I did.
Wizkid is out with a new single, 'Bad To Me', and whatever your opinion about it is, one thing is sure, it is one of the many singles he has released in his stacked career.
It leads to the question, what are Wizkid's five best songs? I am not talking about the biggest commercial records or successful songs. When it comes to pure talent and artistry, which songs do you think should be in his top 5?
There are a lot of records to go through, but I think I have the perfect 5. Here they are below in no particular order;
‘The Matter’ feat. Wizkid by Maleek Berry - Technically, this is not a Machala record. The credit belongs to Maleek Berry, however, because Wiz is the only artist on the song with vocals, we can afford to sneak this in. 'The Matter’ is Wizkid at his most menacing. It is a bad man anthem that also serves as a rousing call for the ladies to hit the dancefloor.
‘Picture Perfect’ - This is Wizkid's most underrated song. Sadly it is placed in his most underrated project - Sounds From the Other Side. 'Picture Perfect' was a prelude to his softer and calmer sound on 'Made In Lagos'. It just went above people's heads at the time. Today, many Wizkid fans acknowledge that ‘Picture Perfect’ is one of his most mature songs.
‘Smile’ featuring H.E.R - The sound Wizkid was striving for on SFTOS fully blossomed on his next solo album - Made In Lagos. With ‘Smile’, Wizkid made a clean breakaway from his previous sounds and landed a cool and smooth style that would push his international career further. This is perhaps the best song on MIL.
‘No Lele’ - For a song that was not a single from Wizkid's classic debut album 'Superstar', it has been very relevant. There has hardly a party where the DJ does not play this song. The way No Lele starts is arguably Wizkid's best intro to a song. A decade after, this song still sounds fresh.
‘Ojuelegba’ - Really? No comment. If you don't get it, forget. Can the story of Wizkid be told without this classic? Impossible.
